Writing Workshops

I have co-ordinated online talks and workshops within all these roles, and have run my own online writing workshops with organisations such as Historic England, Earwax, Theatre Peckham, Casual Readers Club and Staffordshire St.

My workshops usually take one of two forms: a world-building session which asks: if history is a cycle, how can we use the past to build convincing futures? In this workshop, I guide participants to use historical patterns in political, social and scientific progression to build believable utopias and dystopias, and examine how a believable world is the foundation to writing great fiction.

The second workshop is utilises poet Kamau Brathwaite’s ideas of Tidalectics to expand our imaginative capabilities. A painting is presented as an ekphrasis practice, and from the ripples within participants contrasting assumptions about it a collective poetic structure which celebrates fluid rhythms will result, much like waves onto shore.

I have led writing workshops for both teenagers and adults, and can create bespoke workshop programmes depending on your needs. I also offer a bespoke workshops which produce personal poetic films at the end of the programme, produced by me with participants personal photos, drawings, notes, doodles, and audios.

Please get in contact with me via the Contact page if you would like to enquire further.

I was suprised by my own imagination after Varaidzo’s workshop.
