Varaidzo is an Assistant Editor at Wasafiri, and was previously the Arts & Culture Editor at gal-dem.

Her short story ‘Bus Stop’ was shortlisted for the Guardian 4th Estate BAME Prize 2018.

Varaidzo is a contributor to the bestselling anthology The Good Immigrant which won the reader's choice at the Books Are My Bag Awards 2016.

Her essays and articles have been featured in The Guardian, New Statesman, and Dazed amongst other publications. She is a regular speaker with focus on making media and creative industries more accessible to BAME and young people. 

In her personal work, she has a particular interest in exploring stories of the African diaspora in the digital age, through fiction, film, and visual documentation. 

In 2018, Varaidzo produced, directed and edited ‘HOW TO CUT A MANGO’, a short film created purposefully within the time constraint of 24 hours. It was shot entirely on smart phones and it explores themes of sexual assault.
